This winter, Societi Bistro plans to take you on a 10 week tour through Italy. Each week, they’re going to have a new menu inspired by a different region in Italy.

Clouds and I popped into the restaurant on the Saturday to join in a little party they threw to celebrate the menu’s launch. Vino and champers were flowing and guests were treated to tasting plates of many of the new dishes. Of everything I got to try I was most impressed with the Canderli/dumplings in broth (R45), saffron risotto (this is served with the Osso Bucco a la Milanese, R130) and homemade espresso-flavoured gelato (R15).

…

The slice of T-bone steak I tasted was also amazing (R145). Chef Stefan Marais grilled them on the braai right in front of us using only olive oil, black pepper, salt and lemon. Simplicity and deliciousness at its best!

Want to try the menu out for yourself? It kicks off on the 16th in Sicilia and switches to a different regions every Wednesday. To get a look at the menu and the others that are coming up, pop on over here. (When I last checked, they’d yet to go live, but should be up very soon.)

Amore, amore
