The other day I hit up the Bobbi Brown counter at the V&A and got a Pretty Powerful make-over. Well sort of… I was a whiny little cow about having my eye make-up removed because I was wearing an all-over liquid bronzer and didn’t want ‘white holes’ in my faux-bronze glow, so I opted for a ‘lip make-over’. It looks a scary shade o’ Barney in the tube but goes on almost clear yet with a subtle blue-toned hint of a tint that helps create the illusion of a whiter smile. Oh! And don’t you love that all Bobbi’s glosses are now in a slightly bigger tube? You’re essentially getting more bang for the same amount of buck.

Anyway, while getting my mini-makeover, I got to learn a bit about Bobbi’s new Pretty Powerful campaign. For those of you who don’t know, it aims to foster Bobbi’s belief that all women are ‘pretty without make-up and can pretty powerful with the right make-up’.

Want to be the new face? Up until the 23rd of April, any woman aged 18 and up can enter from 15 countries around the world and South Africa’s included. If you’re keen to enter, simply ‘like’ Bobbi’s local Facebook page and send in a shot of yourself looking fresh-faced without make-up and then after shot where you look pretty powerful in your favourite Bobbi Brown make-up.

If you end up being a semi-finalist, you’ll get to have your make-up down by a top Bobbi Brown artist for a photoshoot and walk away with five thousand Rands-worth of Bobbi Brown cosmetics. Afterwards, five women will be selected from these shots and whisked off to Paris where Bobbi herself will pick the winning face!
