If you’ve used Lancome Teint Idole foundation you’ll know it’s a goodie. Kinda like the ‘rich biets’ version Revlon ColorStay, another fab long-wearing gem… Now, however, Lancome’s just launched a new updated version; Teint Idole Ultra 24H (R395) and, if you’re looking for a serious ‘ace base’ that promises to sit tight, this baby’s got your back.

I was given a shade called 02 (Lys Rose) which is a little too light/pink-toned for me, but I made it work on the days when I was in between self tans. I applied it after my moisturiser, dotting it onto my forehead, nose, cheeks and chin, and blended it in with a sponge. I liked how it managed to cover up the very slight pigmentation I have just beneath either eye (thanks Thailand!) and then stayed put.
The only negative is that, being long-wearing, it’s not particularly hydrating so it’ll intensify any dry skin. I had a Lamelle peel the other day and had a few flakes on my forehead and it latched onto every single one of them. As a result, I wasn’t all that impressed initially, but now that my skin’s back to normal, it looks really, really good.
Other benefits? It doesn’t aggravate my oilies. I still need to mattify my T-section throughout the day, however, but when I do, applying a few swipes of super lightweight MAC Blot powder, it doesn’t ‘combine’ with the foundation to create a cakey-looking horror show. I also appreciate that it doesn’t settle into fine lines or pores, but if you do have a more mature-looking skin, I’d probably suggest you try something a little more hydrating and, even better, geared to plumping. (Arden’s Ceramide Ultra Lift and Firm make-up is one of the best I’ve tried in this regard…)
If you’re interested, Teint Idole Ultra 24H has just hit the make-up counters so go check it out. They’ve improved their shade range big time and now have EIGHTEEN for you to choose from including SIX BRAND NEW SUPER DEEP SHADES for dark-skinned women.

Love, love

P.S. A tip for those with fairer skin tones? If you can, opt for a shade with a slightly yellow undertone to truly flatter your skin (I agree with Bobbi Brown on this one and reckon this is a safe bet even if you’re naturally a bit more pink). These would be Beige Albatre (01), Beige Dore (035), Beige Noisette (05), Beige Ideal (044) and Beige Cannelle (06).
Love that they have more than the ‘stock standard’ 3 shades for darker skins.
And just to be clear, it doesn’t wipe off right?
Dark oily skins + foundation = messy finger prints and constant hand washing. You have no idea!!! which is why I’m a Revlon Colourstay girl. Keen to give this a try. Thanks lady, this post was helpful. xxx
Ja, you wouldn’t think it to look at me, but I’m also a v oily girl. (Thank God for MAC Blot powder!) I found it sat tight and actually helped minimise the oilies. But to be sure, ask for a sample before you invest. I never buy foundations without giving them a test drive first. x x x
New in Cape Town. Dont know where the malls are. I tried the mall at Tyger valley and the sales girl had no idea what I was talking about. They didnt have in stock this week yet 13/3/12. Its SO FRUSTRATING being new anywhere. Where can I get a hold of it?
I was under the impression that it was on the shelves but it looks like it’ll only be moving into all stores by the end of the mo. Still, it’s shocking that the makeup counter girl didn’t know that it’s coming in. That’s just crappy training on the store’s side. Sorry babe! I reckon go to another Lancome counter and see if they’re more jacked up. X x x
