NSI’s InTouch nail enamel and POLISH Pro’s new spring collections hits Dream Nails salons

If you’re a regular reader you’ll remember my NSI POLISH Pro review; it’s essentially much the same thing as a Shellac or Gelish mani only less expensive. (For those completely out of the loop, all of these manis are light cured so the moment that LED light turns off, your mani’s BONE dry. It’ll then wear as hard as iron and look super shiny for up to 14 days after which you’re then to remove it with a soak off.)

Anyway, NSI’s Spring Collections are now in Dream Nails nail and beauty salons nationwide. There are two to choose from; Always a Bridesmaid which is all about pretty ‘Easter egg’ colours…

From left to right: Shower at the Four Seasons, Save the Date, Dyed to Match, Green with Envy and Bridezilla. The bottle depicts the sixth shade; I’ll Pink to That.

…and Ski Bunny, a half-dozen soft French mani-style hues and shimmery opalescent shades:

From left to right: Dare to Ski Diamond, Apres Ski, Fresh Powder, Snow Angel, Chalet in Chamonix and Kiss on the Lift.

Now what’s nice about POLISH Pro is that every shade is duplicated in the inTouch nail enamel collection so you either buy the regular polish sommer so or snap it up along with your POLISH Pro mani and use it to fill in the ‘gap’ as your mani starts to grow out. The best bit? Each inTouch nail colour is cheap cheap; R32 for 5mls and R54 for 10mls!

Seen a shade you like? You’ll find them all at your nearest Dream Nails nail salon nationwide.

Maybelline Super Stay 10 H Tint Gloss review

Do remember how hard it was to get hold of a lip stain back in the day? I used to stock up on The Body Shop’s stain when I travelled otherwise I just couldn’t find one in store. Now, just about every brand has their own lip stain (thank God!) including Maybelline who’ve just launched Super Stay 10 H tint gloss.

Maybelline Super Stay 10 H tint gloss, R130

It promises to go on like a shiny highly pigmented lip gloss that stains your lips with a colour that lasts for up to 10 hours. I was given two shades to play with:

Freshly applied Timeless Plum on the left and Forever Coral on the right. Note that they have a nice glisten to them.

When you wipe the gloss away, this is what the stains look like:

The plum’s a little pers/Morticia, but the ‘coral’ is totally pretty. Both shades looked a lot darker on my lips than they do here.

Of the two shades, I liked Forever Coral best but let’s just get this out the way; there’s absolutely nothing coral about it. Seriously. It’s like one hundred-percent rooi and would’ve been better off being called something like Unremittent Red… or Perpetual Scarlet… But hey, that aside, this is a lovely product. The leaf-shaped brush makes it easy to apply and once on it does have a nice gloss-like sheen. This doesn’t last very long though. In fact, it kind of sinks into your lips within half an hour, leaving a lovely scarlet stain that makes it look as though you’ve been sucking on a lollipop.

This was shot after it had time to sink into my lips. You’ll see it’s not coral in the least.

Alas, the stain doesn’t last ten hours. I found it started to fade after five or so and I had to reapply to recreate the initial colour intensity. Still, five hours of colour is five hours of colour. Oh! And did I mention the scent? This product’s got a seriously sweet smell that reminds me of a Fizzer. It’s the kind of thing you’re either going to love or hate but ‘cos I quite like Fizzers it didn’t bother me at all.

Just one top tip; don’t attempt to wear this is your lips are dry or chapped in the least! It will cling to the bits you don’t want to enhance so rather make a point of getting your lips in good nick with something like Blistex DCT. (It’s got exfoliating acids in it to gently sizzle away any dry, flaky bits.)

Keen? It comes in eight different shades and each is going for R130 a pop.
